Summer fun with G Cove Charters

Water temps have cooled back down, enough to turn the striped bass back on. Mackerel are still plentiful, bluefish are showing up in small numbers, and stripers have been consistent. We have had some bigger fish showing up in the last week or so. We caught and released a nice tagged striper the other day, awaiting the info back on it. Looking forward to enjoying the rest of this nice weather stretch and striper bite.

The Striper fishing is excellent right now. We are catching good numbers of fish every day, from slot limit size to up to fish well over 40 inches. Mackerel, pollock and herring are plentiful and fairly easy to catch right now. We saw our first blue shark of the year a few days ago, and the Tuna have been showing up here and there. No consistent bite yet from the Tuna, but they are available. Water temps have been between 56-62 depending on the wind direction, and the water is starting to clear back up from all that rain we had last week. Looking forward to fishing the heat wave this week.

Memorial Day Striper blitz!

Beautiful Memorial Day weekend. Looks like we are off to an early start this year. We are catching stripers off of every rock pile and bait is plentiful. Lots of double-headers, and we were having so much fun there was a competition for the quickest hook up time.The next few weeks should be very productive.

Late July in Southern Maine

July is over, and it's one for the memory books. It seems like every other day we are getting into some trophy size fish. Fishing has been great, some days better than others, of course. Shark fishing has been excellent, and the weather has been phenomenal. I've already done a few shark trips and we are raising and tagging sharks every trip. Bluefin Tunas are still around. Water temps have been fluctuating from 58- 72 degrees surface temps, causing the bite to vary day to day. The bait has still been plentiful, but we've had to run around a little more often to find it. It looks like August will be a good Striper/offshore month the way things are going.Good luck fishing!

Mackerels,Stripers and Tuna, Oh My!

June ended with a bang this year. We’ve had a phenomenal Bluefin tuna bite recently and Striper fishing remains good. Some days we are working harder for bait than others. We will be gearing up for sharks really quick.I’ve been booking up trips for late July and and the remainder of the summer. Flounder season just opened and numbers have been good. I even got the chance to go spear fishing for some.
